He was more than just a soccer coach to me, he was a good friend, and still is I might add. His love for the kids he coaches is obvious. He takes the time to make sure the child knows the soccer drill they're expected to learn and is able to apply it in a game situation. Sportsmanship is held in high regard. Everyone is learning and there are no stupid mistakes. Darin has a whole child philosophy that I've recognized. His Christian attitude and demeanor makes each child feel comfortable and they learn so much quicker. "I wish soccer could last forever!" That was my son's comment as our first season with Coach Darin came to an end. This comment confirmed for me once again that Active Kids Soccer Association is the best place for my kids to learn the game of soccer. Darin knows that all children need to be successful, be praised, and have fun. He nurtures each of these needs through his program. Darin's love for children is evident each time you see him interact with a child on and off the soccer field. The soccer season can not last forever for my kids...but the love of the game and a sense of accomplishment will continue to grow next season when we return to Active Kids! Thanks Coach Darin!

Our family met Darin when he was invited to train our oldest daughter Sara’s U11 Challenge soccer team in East Wake Soccer Association. He began working with the girls and we were amazed at his ability to get the girls to focus and execute. His coaching style is direct, assertive but easily understandable. He has a way of making the girls feel comfortable with his directions and confident in their abilities. That was a number of years ago. Since then Sara and our younger daughter Elizabeth have moved over to CASL league. Elizabeth was able to train along with her sister in private lessons with Darin while Sara was getting ready to tryout for a U13 Challenge team. Sara made the team and Elizabeth is on a challenge team as well. They were both good soccer players but with Darin’s coaching they have achieved more than we had thought possible. Both girls are now very strong players and we look forward to a lasting relationship with Darin as our daughter’s coach and our friend.

Coach Darin is simply amazing! There are not many individuals who can teach something they are truly passionate about. Coach Darin can, with compassion and unfathomable patience. After only one practice session, parents can see that Coach Darin develops the youngest players into individuals that appreciate the game, as well as have a strong skill foundation. More important, he encourages the kids to be the best they can be in life, as well as the game. My 3-year-old and 5-year-old can’t wait for next season!
