Active Kids Soccer League Mini Kickers

Our mini kickers program here at the Active Kids Soccer League is more about the kids than soccer. Soccer is the vessel we use to teach the children about coordination, following instructions, changing directions, balance and building friendships.
Our first four soccer games are all about the individual and building the child's confidence. All the mini kickers soccer balls look the same so as not to cause distress and they quickly move from one thing to the next to keep their attention.

In the next three soccer games we try to incorporate more of a game like atmosphere to prepare them for the next steps in their "soccer careers".


Is everybody ready? I know I am. Mini-Kickers is a lot of fun. It's exciting and is the basis of AKSL. It is not as much about soccer as it is a bout developing life long skills.

I know you may have a ton of questions, so I'll try and answer a few that may be the most helpful.
1) You can purchase a size 3 ball for your child, but please explain that this ball is for practice at home. Please don't bring personal balls from home as this can cause anxiety before and during games. I have all the soccer balls the kids will need.
2) Socks go over shin-gaurds, which are mandatory, but cleats are not mandatory.
3) Please bring water or Gatorade (not soda)to every game. Start good habits early!
4) Have Fun! Your child(ren) will only be 3 once, so enjoy it. It seems that my son was just 3 and blink, he's in college.
5) If your child doesn't want to play the first week or two, or they can cry and are upset one week, please don't get discouraged. Keep bringing them and they will soon warm up!

This season we will be playing on our new AKSL field, located at 55 Liles Dean Road, Wendell (behind ABC Land daycare). We will be notifying you by email or calling post when uniforms are ready and available for pick-up.

As in previous seasons, we will be using a phone messaging system, calling post, to inform you of cancellations due to weather, etc. If you are unfamiliar with calling post, you can go to there website www.callingpost.com and find out more information, as well as, receive a sample call.
